This font has serifs.

This font is san-serif.

This text is easy to read for a title or label.

But if you have a good deal of text, it becomes tedious to read it against the dark background....

...especially if the text is small, or if the type is in a color similar to the background.

It has been shown in numerous studies that dark san-serif font on a light background is easiest to read, with black on white being the easiest.
Dark gray text against black? It may look cool at first glance, but it is not comfortable for most of us to read!
Black text against a gray background has been shown to be easy to read, too.
